It’s OK to Cry

by Angie Mack, October 2021

There is a lot to grieve about in the world right now on so many levels.

There is a saying that I heard once that said,

“Laugh and the world laughs with you.

Cry and you cry alone.”

Most people don’t know what to do around a grieving person so they walk away.

I know that in my own life, I have hidden my grief for fear of people rejecting me.

I can’t tell you how many times men have told me to smile.

Someone who is sad generally makes others feel uncomfortable.

Yet grief is universal and spans the full scope of human existence.

To deny or hide grief is to prolong it and deny the depths of what it means to be human

I’m not normally this emotional when I sing. Experience has taught me

that a lot of people do not like listening to depressing music.

However, for some people, a song such as this may aid as a way for them to let out their grief.

There is a lot to grieve about in 2021.

We have been collectively grieving for too long.

It’s good to let the feelings out lest we get sick.

It’s OK to cry.
