Ragged by Angie Mack Creative 1.27.26

Broken and beautiful

Battle scarred and devastated

Worn out from praying

Impaired from birth

Condemned for neurodiversity

Mangy from long days of serving

Injured from being misunderstood

Weathered countenance

Scarred from forgiving

In pieces over loss

Rickety cars were better than walking

Damaged bread was better than none

Weathered wear and tear

Dreams of love wrecked

Glitchy as a child

In pieces far too much

The Y makes the word productive

as repair is happening

The stricken heart

Though scarred and battered

Reaches out yet again

Refusing to be damaged goods

While accused of being crazed

Action is needed

I am important

because I am a human

I am known by my Creator

Alicia always told me that

creativity was messy

and I do believe it is

Brennan talks about the Ragamuffins

and how God cares for

each and every one of us

Grace can put a theater cat with memories

like me back together again

It’s the theme that all of the great stories

are made of

Renewal

Regeneration

Revival

Restoration

Recycled

The Velveteen Rabbit

Reason to keep going

Triumph

A life well lived

despite adversities

despite misunderstandings

false accusations

stones thrown

The line in the sand

says that I am important

just as important as they

even though I have made mistakes

even though I have believed the best

in some of the worst of times

I am here

Yes I am tired

But I don’t quit

I am determined to love

until my very last breath

I will talk

I will trust

I will feel

in poems, in art, in songs

and if you are still reading

this rambling of a sidewalk poet

this traveling minstrel

then I thank you for listening

to this mama bear old granny

If God can work through a donkey

He most certainly can work through

this ragged-y Angie

To thine own self be true……………….. See BOOKS that Angie Mack has contributed to and/or written. Fluctuation in grammar, sentence structure, capitalization, etc. is intentional and consistent with poetic style
